DAY 3- The Freemont Cut

After a typical hotel breakfast of biscuits and gravy, we decided to check out early and go to Freemont. We have been there several times before. But still it's nice to watch the big toys that float in the water that people pour money into called "boats"....:-)

Well, I intended to take the pic before the food was gone!  oh well......by the way, we have had our share of "dishwater coffee" and have decided that now whenever possible we will travel with our French Press and our own coffee; even though it is in Starbucks cups! ha

Chris' new Tourmaster Jacket that we got for a slammin deal on Craigslist.....

We thought we were all checked out and ready to go; and then the hotel over charged us for an upgrade we didn't ask for!  We didn't leave until they gave us the difference back......:-(

ok, Now we go!

Found a seat by the water in the Fremont district and enjoyed watching the "toys" float by....:-)

Some of them were really large........

The water seemed really blue today for some reason....:-)

And then we had the occasional visitor who insisting on hanging around.  I think he wanted my banana!

I mean he gave me the death stare and wouldn't leave!  ha

NICE!

This was our little spot for the day.......:-)
But I like this shot better.......:-).  It seemed very cool in the shade for some reason and cooking in the sun.

Seattle is a very artistic place.....especially the Fremont District

I think this one was new.....but maybe not....dunno??

We drove past this beautiful neighborhood.......

And then we decided to go to our favorite store in Seattle; The Seattle Cycle Center where we met this gentleman outside who was riding a Honda Passport 70cc......NICE!

We spoke to him for quite some time and unfortunately, I have forgotten his name.  But he was gracious enough to let me take his picture with his bike.....

Then I went inside the store and sat on this bike called "Tha Heist" by Cleveland Cycle Works.  The seat needed more help than "Ms Vickey" does!  I would hesitate to go touring on that one....ha

Then we left to go visit with some friends and snapping some art work on the way......

The Feast!

We were a little early for the theatre and decided to just hang out and watch a chess game....the guy on the left was getting "smoked"!...  poor thing...ha.  He lost his queen before we went into the theatre.."Ouch"!

Maybe all that water broke his concentration.....??

The movie was spectacular!  I was gritting my teeth through the whole thing!...ha

Good night!

I've herd from Bobskoot that Freemont is really neat but we have yet to be there.

Great idea on the french press. Hotels just do not know how to make good coffee. We always find ourselves wandering to the nearest Starbucks with our travel mugs.

Great idea on the french press. I know I said that already but it is a great idea, lol

hahaha.....uh...yep. You said that already! LOL....
this is a great place, but I gotta tell ya....sometimes the traffic is a bear! My goodness, it can literally take 30 minutes to go just a few blocks! We are using our car for this outing and taking some time off the bikes right now. I couldn't help but think about how I would have been sweating like I was in a sauna had I had on all of my gear! We do plan to take our bikes on our next long trip, but will pull them by trailer and spend our riding time riding where we really want to....

My very first scooter was a Honda Passport in yellow. It was like the little Engine that Could. Passports were essentially a Honda Cub, which is the most popular motorcycle in the world. This Irishman on a Cub (90cc) is making his way from Alaska to South America:

And this couple of traveling around the world on Sym Symbas, a modern Taiwanese 101cc copy of the Cub:

Very capable little bikes! Deb

Love the picture of the cub, that is an old one I think, you can tell by the swoop at the end of the front fender, I love those little bikes. I almost bought I 1960's something 150 Benley, but it would have been too much work to get it road ready, and the fellow a year later is still trying to find parts to get it going.

I hate road coffee, it never usually tastes likes anything and it is either too strong or too watery. French press seems like the way to go or just planning the trip around Starbucks locations - lol.

Hi Deb,

It is a cute bike....:-). And I followed Collin and Re around the world on their Posty bikes! what a thread that one was.....:-). I'm not sure I would ever have the stamina to ride that far with so many exchanges along the way, but it sure was an interesting journey to read about!

yeah, I have seen bikes that I like too and then I hear about how hard it is to get the parts for them. So, I don't bother. Especially just becoming a rider and trying to learn the bike I have now!

Starbucks is our NEW BEST FRIEND! Although I'm not 100% sold on the coffee, I can count on them for a decent connection when I need to sign on to the internet out on the road! haha
