Scootin to Duncan, Oklahoma

Today was such a beautiful day that we decided to get going as soon as we could on a ride out of town.  It was a  short trip to the next town over headed East called Duncan.  Having lived in the Lawton area for 18 years, I had frequented Duncan quite a bit, but had never gone from one end of the town to the other.  So, I was looking forward to seeing what I may have missed all of those years.  But first things first.

I was given an early Christmas present by a fellow rider who told me that I didn't have to wait until Christmas to open.  So, I thought "today is the day I will open it"!  And here it is.

Don't leave home without it!  hahahaha......  I could not believe it! haha.  Well, you know I had to try it out.......:-).  We'll get back to the "results" of the ride later.....

Scootard was getting things ready to roll out of the drive way while I finished getting my gear in place...

After we got everything ready to go we started out on our ride.  The sun was shining and it was very warm outside.  I think it reached 88 degrees (31 degrees celcius) and I was baking in my gear.  I had to adjust my vents on my sleeves to keep from roasting.  The road was long and.........well......like this; coming and going....

We took a small break just to give ourselves a slight break from the heat, but it seemed to get worse the longer I sat, so we took off again.

and rode and rode some more........

And we finally made it to Duncan and decided to ride down the main street and find a resturant.....we saw this on the way.....:-)

After riding through the main street and seeing NOTHING, we asked a lady that we passed about a place to eat and she told us we had to go back to the highway to find something.   So, we set off and found this little place......Scootard was ready to chow down! ha

And I was following a close second......:-)

What we really wanted to eat was a "custom made" pizza.  So, we had to do some "schmoosin" with the waitress to get the special thin crust on the type of pizza we wanted.

After placing our order we decided to get some coffee........big mistake!  We asked for cream and all they had was that powdered non-dairy stuff that makes you wonder what it really is.......:-(.

So, I decided I would just drink water and let them have the "alien" coffee drink.

We had our lunch and decided to make the trip back to Lawton, so we got ourselves ready to go home again......

The whole trip with a couple of stops in between was about 75 miles.......Somewhere during that trip.........This stopped working.......!!

So needless to say, I was glad to get out of the saddle and give my "tender self" a rest! ha

See ya soon!!

I love all of your tender self....hahaha. The AMB powder seemed to work fine for me. A nice ride, with a great companion, a decent pizza and a lovely Ride Report.
Well done baby!!!

I've often seen the Anti Monkey Butt Powder, but never ventured to try it myself. Good to know it may or may not stop working part way through the day.

One thing abut riding in warm temperatures is that it always feels so good to get going again after a stop. The breeze just cools you down so nice.

What a great day. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome.....:-). The powder seemed to hold up for Scootard during the whole trip. I guess I just got too hot in my gear and sweated too much.....:-(. It feel just like talcum powder or corn starch when you put it on though...

Pat:

This summer down in 100°F temps of Hell's Canyon Oregon I used that GEL pad from Canadian Tire. There is GEL between air pockets and you don't sweat when riding. Also you should have a mesh type riding pants to let the HEAT out and the BREEZE IN. Some riders use those beads. It keeps the rain away from your pants and allows the air to circulate.

Can you bring some of that heat back here when you return ? It is going down to 5°c tonight

Hey Bob,

I've seen those beads. They look like the same thing people use on their car seats, but they just look soooo uncomfortable. I mean it seems that it would be like riding around with marbles on your butt! haha. In regard to the pants, because of the way that I am built I would have to try to find something here in the states. We tried looking for something for me and the problem was the length. I'm short and very stout.

So, the pants would have to be modified so much that they might as well be custom made; which is out of my budget right now.....:-(. I'll have to see what I can do though. I heard there was a place in Seattle that is just for women. I think it is called "Roar". Perhaps I will check into that when we head back that way.

Thank you for such a fantastic web site. On what other blog could anyone get this kind of information written in such an insightful way? I have a presentation that I am just now working on, and I have been looking for such info.
